Reporting Guidelines and Registration
What to submit
Our journal considers clinical research based on originality, timeliness, and impact on improving human health.
All types of clinical research are considered, including case reports and small case series, clinical trials (phase 1–4), observational studies, meta-analyses, biomarker studies, and public and global health studies.
Our journal follows ICMJE guidelines for the registration of all clinical trials included in submitted manuscripts.
Reporting Guidelines
- Case reports or case series performed in the context of clinical trials evaluating effectiveness in a single patient must follow an extended CONSORT extension for N-of-1 trials. If therapy is given outside a clinical trial, protocols must comply with the CARE guidelines and the Declaration of Helsinki, and all research must be approved by IRBs or ethics committees before publication.
- Observational studies (cohorts, case-control studies, cross-sectional studies) should follow STROBE guidelines
- Systematic reviews and meta-analyses must adhere to PRISMA guidelines.
- Biomarker studies linked to clinical outcomes must follow STARD guidelines, and those related to cancer should follow REMARK guidelines.
- Epidemiology studies should consider GATHER recommendations.
- Randomized trials must comply with CONSORT 2010 guidelines, with submission of the CONSORT checklist along with the manuscript and any relevant protocols.
- Non-randomized trials should follow CONSORT principles and frameworks, and manuscripts may require revision to meet reporting standards before formal review.
Registration
- Interventional trials must be registered before enrolling the first participant. Acceptable registries include ClinicalTrials.gov, the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, or any publicly accessible database that fulfills the 24-item minimum trial registration dataset.
- The trial registration number must be clearly indicated in the abstract and methods sections.
- Retrospectively registered trials or trials in non-publicly accessible databases will not be considered.
Registration of Systematic Review
- Authors of systematic reviews are encouraged to prospectively register their reviews in appropriate registries (e.g., PROSPERO).
- If registered, the registration number should be included in the abstract of the manuscript.
